Reconstruction: MIRROR on Print

Reconstruction: MIRROR on Print

The glyph, as a signage, has been reconstructed with given context by using hybrid printing methods.

This is an interactive experiment helping audience to get knowledge about the typeface "Mirror". Printed on letter size vellum paper, every viewer could take a piece and fold it with the instruction, which allows them to figure out the meaning of the signage at the center of the paper. Some of the letters which are same with the signage in the backgound are missed, which could be a hint of solving these puzzles. The process of giving instruction on this new typeface, is also an observation on the relation between context and readabiliy.

OWN

WAY”

Media: RISO Print

This is a process of giving back meaning to signages. What does a signage look like while color and background varies? And what “culture” will be added to the signage by audience?

To create this experiment, I selected 10 photos I shot in the past during my daily life, and printed them in black and white. Later, the colored signages were printed by RISO printer on the top of original prints.
